In a significant development, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams and other comparable assessments that were previously postponed have been officially canceled. This decision follows a series of student demonstrations demanding the cancellation of the postponed exams and an “auto-pass” system.

On Tuesday, Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, Chairperson of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, announced that the methodology for determining the findings from these exams will be decided at a later date.

Earlier in the day, a large group of students gathered at the Ministry of Education’s headquarters, located at the Secretariat, to voice their concerns. Their primary demand was the cancellation of the postponed HSC exams and the implementation of an “auto-pass” system. The students proposed that the final HSC results be derived by aligning the postponed courses with similar SSC subjects, using previously completed exams as the basis for their results.

The protesters chanted various slogans throughout their demonstration. Their efforts culminated in the acceptance of their main demand, leading to the official cancellation of the postponed HSC and related exams.
