The Cox’s Bazar District Council has taken the initiative to preserve and reinforce the graves of martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the July-August 2024 student-led mass uprising. According to officials, the move aims to honour their legacy and pass their stories on to future generations.
During the uprising, four individuals from Cox’s Bazar district were martyred: Mohammad Wasim Akram from Pekua, Ahsan Habib from Chakaria, Tanvir Siddiqui from Maheshkhali, and Nurul Amin from Eidgah.
To commemorate their supreme sacrifice, the District Council will carry out preservation work at the martyrs’ family burial sites, said Mohammad Al-Maruf, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council.
Marking the first anniversary of the July uprising, a week-long program titled “The July Revolution Through My Eyes” will also be observed, he added.
