An interfaith conference titled “Steps to Prevent Child Marriage” was held yesterday in Cox’s Bazar, bringing together religious leaders from different faiths to address the pressing issue of child marriage. The day-long event, organized by the Islamic Foundation, Cox’s Bazar, with support from World Vision Bangladesh, took place at a local hotel conference hall.

The conference was presided over by Abu Talha, Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation, while Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin attended as the chief guest.

“Preventing child marriage is our moral, social, and administrative responsibility,” the DC said, emphasizing the crucial role of religious leaders in raising awareness. “If we spread the message through religious teachings, the rate of child marriage can be significantly reduced,” he added.

Leaders of various faiths shared perspectives on the harmful effects of child marriage and pledged to actively promote community awareness to curb the practice.
