Cox’s Bazar observed International Literacy Day 2025 with a rally and discussion program organized by the District Administration and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education on Monday morning.

The rally started from the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises and paraded through the main streets before concluding at the DC office conference room, where a discussion meeting was held.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin attended the event as the chief guest.

In his speech, the DC emphasized that technology-driven education is vital in enhancing knowledge and skills, accelerating economic growth.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Saiduazzaman Chowdhury chaired the discussion. The District Primary Education Officer, PTI Superintendent, and Assistant Director of the Bureau of Non-Formal Education spoke at the event. Officials from various government and non-government offices, teachers, students, and other stakeholders were also present.

This year, UNESCO set the theme for International Literacy Day as “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era.”

Globally, people have observed the day since 1967, and Bangladesh has commemorated it annually since 1972.
