Despite the absence of a weekly or public holiday, the number of tourists at Cox’s Bazar beach has increased. With winter conditions prevailing, the sea remains relatively calm, while the blue waters continue to attract visitors.

At present, red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the beach, indicating that the sea is safe for bathing. However, due to the cold weather, the number of visitors remains comparatively low in the early morning. Tourist activity picks up as the sun rises, with groups of visitors entering the water to swim.

Most tourists are bathing at three designated points—Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha. For safety reasons, Sea Safe Lifeguard authorities have urged visitors to strictly follow the prescribed guidelines.

Lifeguards said that specific bathing zones have been marked at these three points, where lifeguard services are available round the clock. Safe limits have been defined using red-and-yellow or red flags, and visitors have been warned that swimming outside the marked areas could be dangerous.

Mohammad Osman Gani, supervisor and senior lifeguard of Sea Safe Lifeguard, told Cox’s Bazar Life that the sea is currently calm due to the winter season, and red-and-yellow flags have therefore been raised. “To avoid accidents, we are advising tourists to bathe only within the designated areas at the three approved points,” he said.

According to the Lifeguards, low tide occurred at 6:04 am on Thursday (January 22), while high tide is expected around 12:00 noon.

Concerned authorities also cautioned that ignoring warning signals or lifeguards’ instructions while entering the sea could lead to serious accidents at any time.
