A high-level delegation from the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka has visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya. The three-member team visited several camps yesterday to observe ongoing humanitarian efforts, led by Hideo Ishizuki, Director-General of the International Cooperation Bureau at Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The delegation also included Akihito Hokiguchi, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Bureau, and Shinju Karasawa, Secretary of the Economic Cooperation Section at the Embassy of Japan.
Md. Shamsud Douza, Additional Secretary of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission (RRRC), informed that the delegation visited various activities managed by international agencies and NGOs at Kutupalong Camp-2 West. They also visited an LPG distribution center operated by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society with funding from UNHCR, as well as the Barnamala Child Learning Center, run by Mukti with support from UNICEF.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed about the teaching methods and curriculum used for children at the learning center. Officials from the RRRC office, camp-in-charges, and representatives from international donor agencies were also present during the visit.
