In a new initiative by the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila administration, an affordable farmer’s market (Krishoker Bazar) has been launched to provide essential goods at budget-friendly prices.
On Sunday afternoon, in collaboration with the Sadar Upazila Agriculture and Livestock Office, the market opened.
It featured a range of essential products at reduced prices, including eggs, potatoes, onions, okra, green beans, eggplants, leafy greens, and other staple items.
Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Neelufa Yasmin Chowdhury inaugurated the market next to the Sadar Upazila bazaar.
During the opening, she noted that this market allows customers to buy produce directly from local farmers at affordable rates.
By eliminating middlemen and displaying a clear price list, farmers can receive fair prices for their produce, while customers benefit from buying reasonably priced items.
She added that plans are in progress to set up similar fair-priced markets in phases across various locations in the Upazila.
Officials from the agriculture and livestock departments, the assistant commissioner (land), and members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement attended the event.
