Most people know the benefits of watermelon, especially during the scorching summer heat. But have you ever heard of kharbuja? Even if you have, chances are you don’t know much about it.
Kharbuja is a delicious fruit that resembles a watermelon but has a distinct taste. In English, it is commonly called “muskmelon” or “rockmelon.” Unlike many other fruits, kharbuja is not available year-round in the market. However, during Ramadan, it is sold in several markets in Cox’s Bazar for Tk 300 per kilogram.
This fruit contains essential nutrients such as potassium, minerals, and vitamins. Its high fiber content helps alleviate constipation, while vitamin C and antioxidants boost the immune system.
Regular consumption of kharbuja in summer helps prevent dehydration. Like watermelon, it keeps the body cool and protects against excessive heat.
If you haven’t tried kharbuja yet, this summer might be the perfect time to experience its refreshing taste and health benefits.
