Marking the Great Victory Day, students from various madrasas in Cox’s Bazar paid deep homage to the heroic martyrs of the Liberation War at the Central Shaheed Minar.

Beginning at 12:01 am on Monday and continuing until Tuesday morning (December 16), madrasa students arrived at the monument in groups to place flowers in solemn remembrance.

Under the supervision of their teachers and guardians, the students came carrying the national flag, banners, and placards. Special prayers and munajat were offered in memory of the martyrs, recalling their supreme sacrifice during the Liberation War.

Patriotic slogans and inspirational messages highlighting the spirit of independence were also shared, helping to convey the history and significance of the Liberation War to the students.

The madrasa students said the independence achieved through the Liberation War of 1971 is a matter of immense pride for the nation.

“The debt we owe to the blood of the martyrs can never be repaid,” they said, adding that they are committed to building a better Bangladesh by upholding the martyrs’ ideals and being guided by morality, humanity, and patriotism.

Special security measures were put in place around the Shaheed Minar on the occasion of Victory Day. With the support of the administration and law enforcement agencies, the tribute programmes were carried out peacefully.

Throughout the day, the Shaheed Minar became a vibrant and respectful gathering place as various educational institutions, social, cultural, and religious organizations joined in paying homage to the martyrs.
