A stakeholder meeting was held in Cox’s Bazar to discuss the challenges hindering shrimp exports and to explore ways to restore shrimp supply to local seafood processing factories.
Organized by the District Administration, the meeting brought together leaders of the Shrimp Producers and Traders Association along with officials from various relevant sectors. It was held yesterday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Vice Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau and Additional Secretary, attended the event as the chief guest. In his speech, he noted that a renewed demand for shrimp in the international market has created fresh opportunities for Bangladesh’s shrimp export sector. He also emphasized that the government is taking active measures to support its development.
The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin and attended by representatives from law enforcement agencies, the Department of Fisheries, and various organizations linked to the shrimp industry.
During the discussion, participants highlighted the existing challenges in the shrimp sector and proposed strategies for sustainable growth and uninterrupted supply.
