The monsoon has revitalised the landscape along Cox’s Bazar’s Marine Drive, where vibrant red and pink hibiscus or jaba flowers are blooming abundantly, enhancing the scenic coastal road with their colour.
Following days of steady rainfall, hibiscus plants lining different stretches of Marine Drive have burst into bloom.
The striking flowers, set against lush green foliage, have caught the attention of tourists, passers-by and local residents alike.
Locals said the monsoon’s abundant rainfall encourages fresh buds to emerge on hibiscus plants, resulting in a higher number of blossoms during the season.
Hibiscus flowers bloom year-round, but they are most vibrant during the summer and monsoon months, when the cool, moist conditions enhance their colour.
Local resident Md Rafiq said the rains seemed to refresh the entire landscape.
“After every spell of rain, nature looks renewed.” The bright red hibiscus flowers along Marine Drive make our daily journeys even more beautiful,’ he said.
Nature lovers said the colourful blooms, combined with Cox’s Bazar’s hills, sea and lush greenery, added a new dimension to the area’s natural beauty.
