Member of Parliament Alamgir Muhammad Mahfuz Ullah Farid from the Cox’s Bazar-2 (Moheshkhali–Kutubdia) constituency paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan at the Naval Headquarters on Sunday.

During the meeting, they held detailed discussions on strengthening overall security in the coastal areas of Kutubdia and Moheshkhali. Key issues included preventing piracy at sea, ensuring fishermen’s safety, and curbing drug trafficking through maritime routes.

The discussion also emphasized intensifying naval patrols to prevent any use of the Moheshkhali–Kutubdia channel for smuggling illegal drugs. In addition, the proposal to establish a naval base in the Shaplapur hill area was raised, along with various development and security concerns that are important to local residents.

The Navy chief welcomed MP Alamgir Farid and assured him that the issues discussed would be given due consideration.
