A cleanliness and awareness campaign was held at Sugandha beach in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday, with local lawmaker Lutfor Rahman Kazal taking part in the initiative organised by Cox’s Bazar municipality.

The campaign began around 10:00am, focusing on keeping the beach clean and raising environmental awareness among tourists, residents and businesses.

Participating in the cleanup, Kazal stressed the need for collective efforts to protect the beach from pollution.

“Plastic and non-biodegradable waste are gradually damaging the beauty of the beach. This beach is a national asset, so we must take care of it and make everyone aware of the need to restore its former condition,” he said.

He said the administration or municipality alone cannot keep the beach clean.

“Tourists, businesses, residents and all other stakeholders must play a responsible role,” he added.

Representatives of various tourism-related organisations also took part in the cleanliness and awareness campaign, including the Tour Operators Association of Cox’s Bazar (TOAC), the Marine Drive Hotel Owners’ Association, and the Restaurant Owners’ Association.
