Intense summer heat has already swept across Cox’s Bazar since the beginning of April. However, amid the rising temperatures, nature has revealed another seasonal beauty, with jackfruits hanging abundantly from trees across the district.
Many of the fruits have already reached near maturity and are expected to ripen within the next few weeks, according to relevant officials.
Sources at the Department of Agricultural Extension said jackfruit production has been quite promising this season due to favorable weather conditions.
A large number of fruits can now be seen on trees in rural areas and household yards throughout the district.
Officials said the fruits will begin ripening fully with the arrival of the Bengali month of Joishtho, increasing market supply in the coming weeks.
Farmers are also expecting better financial returns alongside meeting local demand.
Local resident Joynal said jackfruit production appears significantly higher this year in different parts of Cox’s Bazar.
He noted that some trees are bearing nearly double the amount of fruit compared to previous years and expressed hope for good market prices this season.
