NCC Bank has come forward to support the SeaSafe Lifeguard project, operated by the Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB), to ensure tourist safety and prevent drowning incidents at Cox’s Bazar, the world’s longest natural sea beach.
Under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, NCC Bank will provide financial support for lifeguard services for three months—from February 1, 2026, to April 30, 2026—at three key beach points: Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni. We anticipate that this support will enhance the safety measures for tourists at these locations.
An event marking the initiative was attended by CIPRB director of the Health System Research Division and RTI Prevention and Research Unit, Dr Selim Mahmud Chowdhury; director (human resource and administration), Colonel Imran Ullah Sarkar; and senior adviser, Dr Shaikul Islam Helal.
Representing NCC Bank were managing director Md Shamsul Arefin, additional managing director Md Khorshed Alam, deputy managing director Md Zakir Enam, deputy managing director and chief financial officer Md Mizanur Rahman FCA, and deputy managing director Md Habibur Rahman, along with other senior officials of the bank.
SeaSafe Lifeguard project manager Imtiaz Ahmed said the lifeguard service at Cox’s Bazar beach was on the verge of being suspended due to a shortage of funds. With NCC Bank’s support, the service will now continue for at least 3 more months.
Speakers said Cox’s Bazar is one of the country’s prime tourist destinations, making tourist safety a critical concern. Through the SeaSafe Lifeguard project, lifeguards play a vital role in saving the lives of beachgoers entering the sea. They added that we would regard NCC Bank’s support as a commendable public-interest initiative.
