Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said that if his party comes to power, the government will bear the full cost of women’s education up to the master’s level.

He also claimed that after February 13, the country would witness the emergence of a “new Bangladesh” in which women would be given dignity and respect and ensured full security at home, in public spaces, and at work.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman made the remarks on Monday afternoon at an election rally organised by the Cox’s Bazar district Jamaat at Bir Muktijoddha Field in Baharchhara area of Cox’s Bazar town. Central leaders of the 11-party alliance also addressed the rally.

He assured the gathering that unemployment allowances would not “humiliate” the youth. Instead, he pledged to equip young people with the skills and capabilities to contribute as builders of the nation.

“We want to prepare the youth as proud citizens of Bangladesh, capable of taking responsibility for the country’s future,” he said.

He further said that if the 11-party alliance comes to power under Jamaat’s leadership, corrupt individuals, extortionists, and terrorists would be excluded from governance. “We are committed to establishing justice.” “We will rebuild the country afresh, Insha’Allah,” he added.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman also said the government offices would not serve as offices of any political party and that government officials and employees would serve the people, not partisan interests.

At the rally, he urged voters to cast their votes in favour of ‘Yes’ in the referendum and for the ‘Scales’ symbol in the election.
