Cox’s Bazar Journalists’ Association celebrated its Eid reunion with joy and camaraderie on Saturday (June 14) at Hotel Shaibal.
The event’s chief guest, Principal Akhtar Chowdhury, editor of Cox’s Bazar News (CBN) and principal of Cox’s Bazar City College, emphasized that “neutrality and credibility are the foundation of journalism.” In his speech, he added, “Journalism is undergoing a transformation influenced by technological advancements, shifting societal needs, and the global context. But its greatest challenge remains—standing by the truth while confronting falsehood.”
The event was presided over by M.A. Aziz Russell, president of the Journalist Association, and moderated by General Secretary Bolram Dash Anupom. Other speakers included Joint Secretary Shahidul Karim Shahid, Assistant Secretaries Zikir Ullah Ziku and Shahed Hossain Mubin, Organizing Secretary Jahangir Alam Shams, Abdul Malek Sikder, and Aroj Faruk, Cox’s Bazar multimedia correspondent for Kaler Kantho.
President M.A. Aziz Russell stated, “Journalists must dedicate themselves to public service. To enhance the capabilities of our members, we plan to introduce formal training sessions soon.”
The event was filled with laughter, conversation, music, and cheerful bonding among members. The reunion was attended by executive committee leaders and general members alike. The program concluded with a special felicitation for General Secretary Bolram Dash Anupom, who was recently elected as a member of the Sri Sri Janmashtami Celebration Council of Bangladesh.
