Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh – The newly launched Saikat Express and Prabal Express on the Chattogram-Cox railway route have witnessed high passenger demand on their first day of operation. On February 1, ticket sales from Cox’s Bazar Iconic Railway Station alone generated a total revenue of Tk472,438.
According to Md. Golam Rabbani, Station Master of Cox’s Bazar Railway Station, Saikat Express departed from Chattogram at 6:15 AM, scheduled to arrive at Cox’s Bazar by 9:55 AM. However, due to the return journey, which was initially set for 10:35 AM, it was slightly delayed to 11:00 AM.
On the first day, Prabal Express (822) sold 921 tickets, generating Tk208,923, while Saikat Express (824) sold 1,134 tickets, earning Tk263,515.
On the launch day, 2,055 tickets were sold from Cox’s Bazar station, highlighting the immense popularity of this new railway connection. Passengers expressed excitement and satisfaction, while tourism stakeholders believe the new train service will significantly boost Cox’s Bazar’s booming tourism industry.
