Located about 32 km from Cox’s Bazar town along the Marine Drive road, Patuartek Beach has quickly become a favourite destination for travellers. Its rough, rocky shoreline resembles Saint Martin’s Island, drawing countless tourists who now consider it a must-stop spot on the Marine Drive.
From Dariyanagar and Himchari to Inani, tourists ultimately find Patuartek the most captivating. Even on midweek afternoons, the beach sees a surge of visitors—especially those eager to watch the sunset from atop the rocks or across the sandy dunes, creating unforgettable moments.
Nijuma Akter, a tourist from Chattogram, said, “The rocky landscape here is unique. It almost feels like being in Saint Martin’s. It’s also a great place for photos.”
Hasan Rabbi, a university student visiting from Rajshahi, shared, “Driving along Marine Drive felt like witnessing the most beautiful stretch of nature in Bangladesh. Patuartek only amplified that beauty.”
A couple from Dhaka, Tanvir and Mahi, added, “For us, Patuartek is now the number one spot in Cox’s Bazar to watch the sunset.”
Beach worker, Md. Belal Uddin, employed under the Cox’s Bazar District Administration, said they patrol daily from Inani to Patuartek to ensure tourist safety. Tourist Police also conduct regular patrols in the area.
However, Sea Safe Lifeguard supervisor Mohammad Osman Gani cautioned, “Except for Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni Points, entering the sea is prohibited. There are no lifeguards here, so the risk of accidents is high.”
With its Saint Martin–like rocky formations, serene atmosphere, scenic Marine Drive route, and unmatched sunset views, Patuartek is rapidly emerging as Cox’s Bazar’s newest star attraction. Locals believe that, with proper management and stronger safety measures, it could become one of the top tourist destinations in the country.
