After nearly ten days of relentless rain, the people of Cox’s Bazar are finally witnessing the warmth of the sun.
Heavy rainfall has flooded the city, but it is gradually returning to its normal rhythm. The clear blue sky and the bright presence of sunlight have sparked a renewed sense of hope among the locals.
The submerged low-lying areas of Cox’s Bazar created a flood situation for over a week. Many people were forced to leave their homes and take shelter in higher ground, particularly in areas like Teknaf and Ukhiya.
In a recent update from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, coastal residents have received relief as the department confirmed that there is no imminent threat of stormy weather.
As a result, the third- level storm warning that had been in effect for nearly ten days has been lifted from the maritime ports of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra.
Life is slowly returning to normal as floodwaters begin to recede. However, we have yet to fully assess the extent of the flooding’s damage. The district administration has assured that they are taking necessary measures to support the affected people.
Although the sun has emerged, the memories of the rainy days remain fresh in the minds of Cox’s Bazar’s residents.
Yet, beyond those memories, there is a renewed determination to recover and rebuild—hopeful for a bright and sunny future.
