The three-day International Rohingya Conference began today at Hotel Baywatch in Inani, Ukhiya, with approximately 100 male, female, and youth delegates from the Rohingya camps in attendance. Dressed in their traditional lungis and shirts, the delegates arrived to share their experiences, expectations, and plans for repatriation.

The opening day’s discussion session, titled “Confidence Building,” aims to strengthen the morale of the Rohingya community and restore trust in the repatriation process. Foreign guests and advisers to the Bangladesh government are attending the session, where they will directly hear from Rohingya representatives about their aspirations, challenges, and the conditions under which they wish to return to their homeland.

Speaking to reporters, Rohingya delegates Muhammad Rofiq, Jigar, and Tayub Hasan, who traveled from various camps in Ukhiya to participate, said they are united in their demand for a dignified return to Myanmar.

Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman told the press that the afternoon session will bring together foreign dignitaries and government advisers to listen to the voices of 100 Rohingya representatives, including women and youth leaders. “The objective is confidence-building—boosting morale, understanding how repatriation can take place, and identifying the role of stakeholders in the process,” he said.

In the evening, the Foreign Affairs Adviser will host a dinner in honor of international guests. Alongside, an exhibition showcasing Rohingya culture and heritage will be held, where Rohingya artists will present traditional performances to highlight their proud legacy before the global audience.
