As autumn begins, roadside fruit stalls at Gungachhtala in Cox’s Bazar have taken on a colourful look with seasonal fruits, and melons are attracting particular attention from passers-by.
The greenish-yellow melons, piled together in different shapes and sizes, stand out from a distance and have become a noticeable feature of the roadside stalls.
Many pedestrians stop to look at the fruit, drawn by its colour and appearance. Some ask about their quality and price before buying. The number of customers tends to increase in the afternoon.
Nurul Haque, a melon seller, said the fruits often catch people’s attention from a distance because of their appearance.
“Many people stop while passing by to look at the melons. If they like what they see, they buy some,” he said.
Sellers said the price of each melon ranges from Tk 80 to Tk 150, depending on size and quality. They said customers’ interest has been excellent at the beginning of the season.
Sohan, a customer, said the melons caught his attention because of their appearance.
“They look very attractive. Seeing so many of them arranged together caught my eye from a distance. I came closer, liked them and decided to buy some,” he said.
Sellers said the fruits are drawing customers not only for their taste but also for their attractive appearance.
With piles of seasonal melons lining the roadside, the fruit stalls at Gungachhtala have added a lively touch to the area at the beginning of autumn.
