Youth Action for Justice and Development (JYDA Bangladesh) has been awarded the prestigious Youth Climate Small Grant 2025 at the national celebration of International Volunteer Day (IVD) 2025, held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka.

Led by VSO Bangladesh and co-organized by key national and international development organizations, the event focused on this year’s theme, “Every Contribution Matters.”

JYDA Bangladesh (a registered Youth-led non-profit organisation) is actively working in the field at Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, and Dhaka Regions since 2024.

The ceremony brought together youth leaders, volunteers, policymakers, and global partners committed to advancing volunteerism and climate action. The programme began with the national anthem and opening remarks by senior representatives from VSO Bangladesh, the Government of Bangladesh, the British Council, and the Embassy of Sweden.

A key highlight of the event was recognizing young changemakers across the country. JYDA Bangladesh, founded by Mr. Shahrukh Karim, was selected as one of eight organizations to receive the Youth Climate Small Grant, totaling Tk 1,50,000.

This grant will support the implementation of an innovative, community-driven climate initiative under JYDA’s youth leadership.

“We are honored to receive this national recognition,” said Shahrukh Karim, Executive Coordinator of JYDA Bangladesh. “This award strengthens our commitment to empowering young people to lead climate-resilient solutions in vulnerable communities.”

A high-level panel discussion titled “Youth Volunteerism and Climate Action” provided insights into youth-led innovations, climate justice, and the role of volunteerism in building resilient communities.

In his closing remarks, Sheikh Mohammad Jobayed Hossain, Joint Secretary and Wing Chief, Youth Wing, Ministry of Youth and Sports, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting youth-led climate initiatives. Dr. Arman Hossain delivered the vote of thanks, praising the collective efforts that drive national volunteerism and make an impact.
