The Teknaf Upazila Administration recently honored the Teknaf Under-17 football team, crowned champions of the National Gold Cup Football Tournament at the district level in Cox’s Bazar.
The felicitation ceremony occurred on Monday, January 27, at 11 a.m. in the Upazila Parishad Conference Hall. Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salah Uddin presented each player, coach, and official with a bouquet.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner commended the team’s remarkable achievement.
“Teknaf’s sports arena has made significant progress. Becoming district champions is a matter of immense pride. By nurturing sports, education, and tourism, we can erase the stigma of drugs from Teknaf and transform it into a prosperous, sports-friendly upazila,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner congratulated all team members and handed the players a cash reward of TK25,000.
Local sports enthusiasts applauded the initiative, believing it would steer the youth away from drugs and foster a culture of growth through sports and community engagement. The Deputy Commissioner’s vision has inspired hope for a brighter and more prosperous Teknaf.
