Across Cox’s Bazar’s coastal villages and beaches, the aroma of freshly boiled corn now fills the air. Once dominated by boiled peanuts, street snacks have found a new favorite — hot, spicy corn mixed with salt, chili, and lemon. From school gates to seaside stalls, sellers are busy serving customers of all ages. Local resident Afzal Hossain says the taste of boiled corn feels “refreshingly different.” Vendors too are happy — adding corn alongside peanuts has boosted their daily income, sometimes reaching up to Tk1,500. As winter approaches, corn sales soar, turning this simple snack into a warm delight and a source of extra livelihood for many.
