An EU delegation team led by Ms. Margherita CAPALBI, Program Manager, Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition, and Dr. Michal KREJZA, Head of Development Cooperation, visited to observe the legacy of the successful implementation of the European Union-funded and WorldFish-implemented Artemia4Bangladesh project.

WorldFish Bangladesh scientist Dr. Meezanur Rahman, a former Technical Team Leader of the artemia4Bangladesh project, also attended the event.

He gave an overview of the EU-funded Artemia4Bangladesh project’s journey and the current state of artemia cultivation in Cox’s Bazar after the intervention.

The delegates visited Artemia farming ponds and observed how farmers practice Artemia culture in salt fields, hatch cysts, and market Artemia and cysts.

The team also conducted discussions with project beneficiaries who were involved with artemia culture, integrated fish and shrimp farming, and diversified food from Artemia for human consumption.

The team visited a hatchery to observe Artemia cyst hatching, recirculatory aquaculture systems, and laboratory activities.

The visitors were impressed by the sustainable efforts of the Artemia4Bangladesh-trained farmers in climate-smart aquaculture.
