Cox’s Bazar beach witnessed a surge of tourists on early Friday as the weekly holiday drew large numbers of visitors eager to enjoy the winter seaside. Domestic tourists began gathering along the shore in the morning, drawn by the striking contrast of the blue sky, calm blue sea, and the cool winter breeze.

A visit to the Laboni Point, Kolatoli, and Sugandha areas showed families, groups of friends, and travellers of all ages engaging in sea bathing, photography, and leisurely walks along the beach. Due to the winter season, the sea remained relatively calm, with gentle waves and cool air offering visitors a sense of peace and relaxation.

Rafi Hossain, a tourist from Dhaka, said winter gives Cox’s Bazar a different charm. ‘The blue sea and clear sky together are truly refreshing. There is no better place to spend a holiday with family,’ he said.

Hossain, a student who travelled from Barishal, said the experience is more comfortable in winter.

‘During summer, Cox’s Bazar is overcrowded, and moving around becomes difficult. In winter, both the weather and the sea are much more pleasant, so we came here with friends,’ he said.

The influx of tourists has also brought relief to local businesses. Hotels, motels, restaurants, and mobile vendors along the beach were seen bustling with activity.

A hotel employee said that tourist numbers tend to rise on weekends during the winter season, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.
