The world’s longest sea beach in Cox’s Bazar witnessed a huge influx of tourists on Friday, the weekly holiday. Under shifting skies—sometimes cloudy, sometimes sunny—visitors of all ages flocked to the shore to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. Some played on the sandy dunes, others rode horses along the waves, turning the entire beach into a festive gathering.
Tourists said their visits had been limited during the monsoon season, but with rainfall easing, they returned to Cox’s Bazar in large numbers. Local businesses also noted optimism, saying that the flow of tourists is likely to rise further in the coming weeks.
Despite the cheerful crowds, the sea remained rough. Although the weather office lifted Signal No. 3 warning on Friday, lifeguards kept a close watch. As a precaution, Sea Safe Lifeguard workers placed red flags at several points along the beach.
Senior lifeguard Md. Zohirul Islam explained, “The red flags mark dangerous spots for swimming. We urge everyone to pay attention to these warnings and remain cautious before entering the water.”
