A surge of tourists has swept into Cox’s Bazar as International Workers’ Day aligns with the weekend, creating a three-day holiday. Accommodations across the beach town are reporting a sharp increase in bookings, from luxury resorts to budget hotels and motels.

Although the official tourist season in Cox’s Bazar typically ends in March, this so-called off-season no longer sees the lull it once did. There was a time when hotels during this period would sit empty and silent, forcing business owners to incur heavy losses.

But times have changed.

With Cox’s Bazar gaining new importance as a year-round destination, the region has seen major infrastructural upgrades. Its airport has recently been upgraded to international status, and rail connectivity has been established. Modern and comfortable long-distance bus services now operate on the highway, offering travelers safer and easier access to the seaside city.

These developments have made Cox’s Bazar a more accessible and attractive destination throughout the year, not just during the peak season. As a result, the influx of tourists continues—even in what was once the off-season.
