The government has announced a series of holidays beginning on October 1 (Wednesday) on the occasion of Mahanabami of Durga Puja. October 2 (Thursday) will also be a holiday for Bijoya Dashami, followed by the regular weekend holidays on October 3 and 4 (Friday and Saturday). This will give government employees a four-day break from October 1 to 4.
Even before the official holidays, Cox’s Bazar has already begun to see a surge of tourists. On Friday, September 26, the weekend crowd filled the city’s popular beach points—Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha—with visitors enjoying the sea breeze.
Tourism sources report that most hotels in Cox’s Bazar have already sold out in advance. Local authorities have issued directives to ensure that tourists are not subjected to any form of harassment during their stay.
