The Cox’s Bazar sea beach is witnessing a surge of tourists during the extended Eid-ul-Azha holidays as tourists from across the country flock to the coastal town to enjoy its vast expanse of blue waters and scenic beauty.
Large crowds gathered at the Laboni, Sugandha, and Kolatoli points of the beach from early morning.
The sound of crashing waves, the salty sea breeze and the festive atmosphere have brought renewed vibrancy to the country’s premier tourist destination.
Families and friends enjoyed the beach together, creating a lively atmosphere.
While many took a dip in the sea, others rode beach bikes, enjoyed jet-ski rides, or explored the shoreline on horseback, adding to the festive mood along the coast.
Lifeguards remained on duty throughout the day to ensure the safety of visitors entering the sea.
They warned tourists away from hazardous areas and monitored designated bathing zones.
People involved in the tourism sector expressed optimism that Cox’s Bazar would receive hundreds of thousands of tourists during the Eid holidays.
Hotel, motel, and guesthouse bookings have already increased significantly.
President of the Greater Beach Business Owners’ Association Abdur Rahman said that tourist arrivals had increased from the very beginning of the Eid holidays.
“So far, hotel occupancy has reached between 30 and 60 per cent. We expect bookings to reach full capacity within the next few days,” he said.
Superintendent of Police Nihad Adnan Taiyan said that Tourist Police members worked around the clock to ensure the safety of visitors.
He said that surveillance had been intensified not only at Kolatoli, Sugandha and Laboni points, but also at Inani, Himchhari and Patowartek tourist spots.
In addition to regular patrol teams, extra mobile patrol units and plainclothes police personnel had also been deployed, he said, adding that all necessary measures had been coordinated with the district administration and district police to ensure maximum security for tourists.
With its blue waters, golden sands and festive crowds, Cox’s Bazar has come alive during Eid, offering tourists a vibrant holiday atmosphere along the Bay of Bengal.
