Thousands of tourists thronged Cox’s Bazar sea beach on the last day of January as the easing winter chill drew tourists from across the country to the world’s longest natural sandy beach.
On-the-spot visits showed a steady influx of tourists from the morning at Laboni Point, Sugandha, Kolatoli, and Inani beach. Some enjoyed the rolling waves, some took photos with family and friends, and others waited to watch the sunset by the shore. The mild winter breeze and bright sunshine added to the charm of the seaside outing.
Ashfaq, a tourist from Dhaka, said the intense cold a few days ago had made traveling less enjoyable. “Now the weather is very pleasant, so I came to Cox’s Bazar with my family. The seaside atmosphere feels wonderful,” he said.
Another visitor, Hamid from Chattogram, said that, although it was the end of January, the cold was tolerable and the beach was lively. “I’m having a wonderful time here with my friends,” he added.
Local business owners also expressed satisfaction over the surge in visitors, saying the increased footfall at the end of the winter season has given a fresh boost to the local tourism economy.
Tourism insiders believe that if the favourable weather continues, the flow of tourists to Cox’s Bazar is likely to remain strong in the coming days.
