The world’s longest sea beach, Cox’s Bazar, was overflowing with visitors on the weekend as thousands of tourists flocked to the shore from across the country. From Kolatoli to Laboni Point, the beach was alive with crowds of travelers reveling in the rhythm of the waves. Lifeguards have placed red flags at risky spots to ensure safe swimming for all.
Under a calm sea, waves rolled gently toward the shore — and tourists couldn’t resist diving into the fun. Families from Dhaka, Chattogram, and beyond spent their holiday soaking in the salty breeze, taking photos on the dunes, and riding horses or beach bikes along the coastline.
Tourist Syed Alam said, “Once you visit Cox’s Bazar, it keeps calling you back. Every time I get a break, I return to the sea — it brings me a peace I can’t find anywhere else.”
Another visitor, Md. Kabir Hossain, shared, “I came here to spend quality time with my family. We’re having a wonderful time in the water and on the dunes.”
Israt Jahan, a tourist from Dhaka, added, “In the midst of a busy life, I came here to find a bit of peace. No matter how many times I see the sea, its beauty never fades.”
Beyond the natural charm of the beach, the vibrant Burmese Market has also caught visitors’ attention. From seashell ornaments to handmade souvenirs, local vendors are enjoying brisk sales.
Shell seller Abdu Rashid said, “Seashells are part of Cox’s Bazar’s heritage — tourists love them, often engraving names as keepsakes. With more visitors arriving, our earnings have gone up.”
Vendor Kamal Hossain added, “Tourist weekends are great for business. The more people come, the more the city comes alive.”
Still, lifeguards have urged caution before stepping into the sea. Hidden channels, known locally as “gupto khal,” can be dangerous despite calm waters.
Senior lifeguard Md. Ruhul Amin of Sea Safe Lifeguard said, “The sea looks calm, but hidden currents remain. Red flags mark these risky zones, and our teams are on alert at three main points to ensure tourist safety.”
Between moments of leisure and layers of precaution, Cox’s Bazar Beach has turned into a vibrant gathering spot — a joyful mix of nature, excitement, and awareness where the waves keep calling everyone back.
