For centuries, farmers in this country ploughed their fields with a yoke of oxen or buffaloes pulling a wooden plough. However, modern technology has revolutionized agriculture, and tractors and power tillers are replacing traditional ploughing methods.
This transformation has significantly reduced farming costs. Land that used to yield two crops yearly now produces three to four crops, thanks to efficient and timely ploughing using modern machinery.
Recently, farmers were spotted using tractors to plough fields in Pechar Dwip along the Marine Drive in Cox’s Bazar.
Farmers shared that year-round farming is now possible due to modern equipment, with some lands producing up to four harvests in twelve months. Tractors allow uninterrupted ploughing day and night, facilitating faster preparation for cultivation and maximizing productivity.
The adoption of technology in agriculture marks a shift toward more sustainable and profitable farming practices, moving away from age-old traditions to meet the demands of the modern era.
