Organized by the Cox’s Bazar Film Club, the festival is showcasing five full-length Bangladeshi films, one English-language film, and one documentary. The event is supported by the Department of Mass Communication, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Cox’s Bazar District Administration, and the Dhaka Film Club. The festival organizers have kept the festival open to all.
The festival was inaugurated on Friday evening at the open stage of the district administration at Laboni Point on Cox’s Bazar sea beach. Activities began with the screening of a documentary.
On the first day, the lineup includes “Chhayabrikkho,” directed by Bondhon Biswas; “Jolrong,” directed by Apurbo Rana; and “Dot,” the first English-language film from Bangladesh, directed by Borua Sunanda Kakon.
The festival’s closing day will begin screenings at 4:00 pm on March 28. The day will open with “Behula Dordi” directed by Sojib Khan, followed by “Moynar Char” directed by Mostafizur Rahman Babu and “Middhobitto” directed by Tanvir Hasan.
Cox’s Bazar Film Club President Mohammad Selim said the main objective of the initiative is to present stories about society, human emotions, and contemporary realities through cinema. He added that the festival also aims to create a creative platform for emerging and talented filmmakers, allowing them to express their ideas and aspirations.
He further said that cinema is not only a form of entertainment but also a powerful medium for awareness, connection and change, which inspired the organization of this event.
