Cox’s Bazar is set to join the nationwide typhoid vaccination campaign, starting October 12, targeting children aged 9 months to 15 years. The initiative aims to provide free typhoid vaccines to over 906,000 children across the district.

The announcement was made during a district-level consultation meeting on the campaign, organized by the District Administration and District Information Office with journalists from print, electronic, and online media in attendance. The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner Md. A. Mannan.

In his address, the DC emphasized that the typhoid vaccine is safe and effective. He highlighted that this campaign is not only crucial for saving children’s lives but also for reducing typhoid-related illnesses and deaths in the long term. He stressed the importance of vaccinating children, who are the future leaders of the country, to ensure they grow up healthy and resilient.

Key officials present at the meeting included Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammadul Haque, District Information Officer, Md. Abdus Chattar, CS Office M,O Dr. Koninika Dastidar, and Press Club President Mahbubur Rahman, along with representatives from various government and non-government departments.

Under the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), the campaign will be implemented across 2,936 vaccination centers in Cox’s Bazar. Parents are encouraged to register their children at vaxepi.gov.bd to ensure participation.

Officials also urged vigilance against misinformation about the vaccine and emphasized strengthening public awareness initiatives to ensure smooth implementation.
