The Cox’s Bazar district unit of the Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi, the country’s largest mass-based cultural organisation, welcomed the arrival of spring with a colourful celebration featuring music, dance, recitation, and spirited discussions.

The Basant Utsab was held on Monday evening (February 16) at Shaheed Daulat Maidan of the Cox’s Bazar Public Library, drawing a lively gathering of artistes and cultural enthusiasts. The venue turned festive as performers and attendees, dressed in vibrant attire adorned with flowers, celebrated the season in a joyous atmosphere.

The programme featured songs, dance performances, poetry recitations, and spoken reflections, bringing together a rich blend of artistic expressions. Leaders of various cultural organisations in Cox’s Bazar addressed the audience, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in nurturing Bengali heritage, cultural diversity and secular values.

People from different walks of life thronged the venue to enjoy the event. Through the celebration, the message of spring’s arrival resonated across the area, adding colour and warmth to the coastal town.
