Excitement surrounding the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 is spreading across rural markets and urban neighborhoods alike, with football fans already preparing to support their favorite teams.
Amid the growing enthusiasm, the business of selling World Cup flags has also become increasingly lively.
Sirajul, a travelling vendor from Madaripur, has been visiting different rural areas of Cox’s Bazar to sell flags of popular football teams.
During a recent visit to Sonar Para market, Sirajul’s stall attracted crowds of local people. Some purchased flags, while others curiously examined the colours and designs of their favourite teams.
Sirajul said the flags of Brazil and Argentina were selling the most.
According to him, small and medium-sized flags are being sold for Tk 200 to Tk 250, while larger flags are priced between Tk 400 and Tk 500.
“As the World Cup approaches, demand for flags has increased significantly and sales are going well,” he said.
The growing football frenzy ahead of the World Cup has become clearly visible not only in Sonar Para market but also in surrounding areas, where discussions and preparations centred on favourite teams are already gathering momentum.
