A cloudy monsoon sky, light drizzle and lush green surroundings have set the stage for an enjoyable afternoon of cricket in Daria Nagar, where local youths were seen playing on an open field beside the Marine Drive in Cox’s Bazar.

During a visit to the area on Monday afternoon, groups of young people of different ages were found engrossed in cricket despite dark clouds hovering overhead. The gentle rain and cool sea breeze added a refreshing touch to the game, while the picturesque setting of green grass, distant hills and a cloud-covered sky created a striking backdrop.

Local resident Rakib Hossain said the field becomes particularly attractive during the monsoon season.

“The beauty of this place is different during the rains. Playing cricket with friends in light drizzle makes the experience even more enjoyable,” he said.

Another young player, Saiful Islam, said outdoor activities in such an environment offer a welcome break from daily routines.

“After a busy day, spending time here playing cricket brings a sense of relief. The pleasant natural surroundings encourage us to come to the field every afternoon,” he said.

Residents said the natural beauty of Darianagar becomes even more vibrant during the monsoon, with the open field beside the Marine Drive serving as a popular gathering spot for sports and recreation.

They noted that local youths regularly spend their afternoons there, taking advantage of the scenic setting and open space for games and socialising.

Combining the charm of nature with the energy of outdoor sports, the field in Darianagar has become a lively community space, attracting not only local residents but also visitors seeking a different side of Cox’s Bazar beyond its beaches and tourist attractions.
