The final round and prize-giving ceremony of an anti-corruption debate competition, organised by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and managed by the Teknaf Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee, was held in Teknaf on Tuesday.

The competition took place at the auditorium of Teknaf Technical School and College, where Border Guard Public School emerged as champions. Teknaf Model Pilot High School secured the runner-up position after a closely contested final.

Risana Afrin Mibah, captain of the champion team, was named Best Speaker for her impressive and well-reasoned presentation.

As in previous years, the ACC organised the competition with the participation of eight educational institutions from across the upazila.

The debate was moderated by Shafiqul Islam, a professor at Teknaf Government College and general secretary of the Teknaf Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee.

The judging panel comprised Professor Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan and Professor Fariel Samiha of Teknaf Government College, as well as Instructor Russell of Teknaf Government Technical School and College.

The prize-giving ceremony was presided over by Shamsul Alam, president of the Teknaf Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee and former principal of Teknaf Government College. The chief guest was SM Anik Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Teknaf.

In his address, the chief guest urged students to develop a strong anti-corruption mindset from an early age and to play an active role in promoting integrity and accountability in society.

In his concluding remarks, Shamsul Alam said students must take the lead in establishing values of honesty, ethics and resistance to corruption.

Among those present were Harun-or-Rashid, head teacher of Border Guard Public School; teacher Abdul Majid; and Amira, a teacher at Teknaf Model Pilot High School. Also attending was Md Abu Taher, head teacher of Eden School and College and a member of the Teknaf Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee.

Following the competition, the chief guest and other dignitaries distributed books, trophies and certificates among members of the champion and runner-up teams.

Teachers, guardians and local media representatives were also present at the event.
