Summer in Cox’s Bazar is living up to its reputation—with scorching temperatures making life increasingly unbearable. After a brief spell of morning rain yesterday, the oppressive heat returned in full force, leaving both people and nature gasping.
A visit around the city revealed residents taking to the streets with umbrellas, seeking shade and relief from the blazing sun.
According to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, the maximum temperature recorded today was 35°C. Although yesterday’s rainfall offered temporary relief, the overall heatwave remains unrelenting.
Officials from the local Met Office have warned that the current heat spell is likely to persist for another week.
Notably, on April 13, Cox’s Bazar experienced its highest temperature of the year so far—36.8°C, highlighting the intensifying summer conditions in the coastal region.
