While Rajshahi and Satkhira are renowned for mango production in Bangladesh, a new horizon has opened for mango cultivation in Cox’s Bazar. Locals across the district are now planting fruit orchards in their backyards, and among these orchards, the Fazli mango sapling stands out as a unique addition.
Historically, Fazli mango cultivation was uncommon in Cox’s Bazar, but this year has seen a change. A few entrepreneurs and fruit enthusiasts have planted Fazli mango saplings and have successfully harvested crops. This has been particularly evident around the Cox’s Bazar Government College area, where locals have reported good yields and attractive-sized mangoes.
Farmers believe that Cox’s Bazar’s climate and soil are becoming increasingly suitable for cultivating this variety, which presents a new economic opportunity for those interested.
Fruit researchers and agricultural experts suggest that with proper care and the support of modern technology, Fazli mango cultivation could become a viable commercial venture in Cox’s Bazar. This would benefit local farmers and bring diversity to the district’s fruit farming industry.
