Cox’s Bazar has seen a significant influx of tourists since Thursday, as holidaymakers take advantage of a three-day vacation to visit the world’s longest sea beach. According to local sources, hotel, motel, and guesthouse bookings across the beach town ranged between 70 and 80 percent over the holiday period.
Officials said that tourist activity is expected to continue until Saturday evening.
“Tourists have been enjoying the beach as well as nearby recreational spots,” said Abul Kashem Sikder, President of the Cox’s Bazar Hotel-Motel Guesthouse Owners’ Association. “Despite the sweltering heat of Boishakh, we had a good turnout. The star-category hotels were fully booked, and the rest saw 70 to 90 percent occupancy.”
The Tourist Police, along with other law enforcement agencies, has been working around the clock to ensure visitor safety. “We are alert and active to prevent any untoward incident,” said Additional DIG of Tourist Police (Cox’s Bazar Region), Apel Mahmud. “Our goal is to ensure a smooth and secure experience for all tourists.”
