In a powerful display of unity and patriotism, students and young citizens of Cox’s Bazar gathered at the Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday evening (May 13) to sing the Bangladeshi national anthem in unison.
The unique event brought together over a hundred spirited youth who stood shoulder to shoulder, their voices rising in a shared expression of national pride. The initiative, free of political speeches, focused solely on music and emotion, and was attended by various cultural and political groups.
Following the national anthem, the participants performed several patriotic songs, including “Dhon Dhanya Pushpe Bhora,” “Muktir Mondir Shopan Tole,” and the rousing “Bangladesh, Bangladesh, Bangladesh.” As the music ended, the crowd spontaneously erupted into slogans echoing their love for the nation.
Organizers stated that the program was arranged in response to recent controversy surrounding alleged disrespect to the national anthem during a Shahbagh protest demanding a ban on the Awami League. In light of that incident, the event in Cox’s Bazar aimed to reaffirm respect for the anthem and instill a renewed sense of patriotism.
Residents praised the initiative, saying it had “reawakened the spirit of national consciousness” among Cox’s Bazar’s youth.
