The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of the country over the next 72 hours due to active southwest monsoon winds.

Regions including Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka, and Rajshahi divisions may experience heavy downpours accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms.

Authorities have warned of potential landslides in the hilly areas of Chattogram, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Bandarban, and Cox’s Bazar due to persistent heavy rainfall. Residents in these regions are advised not to stay at the foot of hills during this period.

Due to rough weather, local cautionary signal No. 3 remains in effect at Cox’s Bazar and three other maritime ports. Vessels navigating the Bay of Bengal are urged to proceed with caution.

Assistant Meteorologist Abdul Hannan from the Cox’s Bazar Met Office confirmed the update and mentioned that the monsoon may remain active for several more days, which could lead to worsening weather conditions.
