Cox’s Bazar, the city by the sea, welcomes thousands of tourists every day from across the country. Beyond its scenic beaches, one thing that has been catching the attention of visitors is the local dry fish—or shutki—markets. A recent visit to the traditional markets of the Seagull area (Sairkot Para) revealed a bustling scene: tourists haggling with vendors, carefully selecting their dry fish to take home as a flavorful souvenir. Rifat and Sabuj, two travelers from Uttara, shared, “We’re here on a two-day tour. Since we’re heading back to Dhaka tonight, we wanted to pick up some fresh, good-quality shutki for our families.”
