Ahead of Eid al-Azha, cattle markets across villages and unions in Cox’s Bazar are becoming increasingly active, with traders transporting local cattle from one market to another. Farmer Jamal Hossain said demand for local breeds appears strong this year, with markets displaying cattle of various sizes. Buyers were also seen visiting markets in search of suitable animals for sacrifice. Asif Chowdhury, a cattle buyer, said he prefers purchasing local breeds every year for Eid, regardless of size, and was visiting markets to find the right cow.
