Cox’s Bazar, August 2 – A discussion session was held in Cox’s Bazar today to mark Remittance Warriors Day, celebrating the contributions of expatriate Bangladeshis to the nation’s economy. The event took place at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, jointly organized by the District Administration, the District Employment and Manpower Office, and the Ramu Technical Training Center.

This year’s theme was “July Beyond Borders”, highlighting the contributions of migrant workers beyond national boundaries.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin presided over the event and noted that, although they reside abroad, expatriates played a significant role in the spirit of the July uprising. “The government honors them as Remittance Warriors for their relentless efforts in building the nation’s economy,” he added, also outlining various initiatives the government has undertaken for the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates.

Speakers included Additional Deputy Commissioner Imran Hossain Sajib, Assistant Director of the District Employment and Manpower Office Liton Kanti Chowdhury, and Engineer Md. Shah Jalal, Principal of Ramu Technical Training Centre, Dr. Koninika Dastidar from the Civil Surgeon’s office, and Rashida Khatun, Project Coordinator of Protyashi.

Government and non-government officials, political leaders, student representatives, and family members of remittance earners attended the event.
