Fishermen’s nets often fill with an abundant catch of tuna, locally known simply as tuna, along the shores of Cox’s Bazar.

With fewer bones and a rich taste, this fish has become a favorite among locals and visiting tourists.

A visit to the city’s Fishery Ghat and local markets shows that the price of tuna varies between Tk 300 and Tk 600 per kilogram, depending on the season and size.

Traders note that prices rise during peak tourism periods when demand surges.

Tuna’s versatility in cooking particularly attracts tourists. Some buy it from markets and have it prepared at hotels or restaurants, while others enjoy it fried, curried, or grilled.

Local traders add that tuna and similar varieties remain in steady demand throughout the year, with tourists especially preferring them for grilling and barbecues.

Beyond the stunning beauty of Cox’s Bazar’s beach, the taste of freshly cooked tuna offers travelers a unique and flavorful experience, adding an extra layer of delight to their seaside journeys.
