Today, September 15, marks the International Day of Democracy. In observance of the day, Volunteers for Bangladesh (VBD), in collaboration with Alokito Nagarik, has launched a month-long special campaign titled “A New Bangladesh Through My Vote,” with the core slogan “Right Vote, Right Leadership.”
The campaign was commemorated on Monday afternoon at Cox’s Bazar Central Shaheed Minar, where VBD members participated and held awareness-raising placards.
VBD leaders emphasised that democracy is not merely a system of governance but a symbol of citizens’ active participation in crucial national decision-making. “We believe that informed and conscious voters can help build a fair and inclusive Bangladesh,” they said.
The organisation noted that the International Day of Democracy is being observed across all 64 districts and 495 Upazilas, engaging thousands of volunteers and local communities.
VBD called on citizens to “make the practice of democracy a part of daily life and work together to build a strong, just, and universally participatory Bangladesh for future generations.”
